Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
At Curated Harmonies, your privacy is important to me. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, how it is used and stored, and the choices and rights you have regarding your information.
Curated Harmonies is operated by Sadé Aretha as a sole trader. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am responsible for the personal information I collect and use.
If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, you can contact me at curatedharmonies@gmail.com.
Information I Collect
The personal information I collect will depend on how you interact with Curated Harmonies.
When you make an enquiry through my website or contact me directly, I may collect information such as:
your name and your partner's name;
your email address and other contact details you choose to provide;
your wedding date, ceremony time, venue or location;
the Curated Harmonies service you are interested in;
information you choose to share about your wedding plans; and
how you heard about Curated Harmonies.
If you choose to book my services, I may collect additional information needed to create and deliver your ceremony. This may include information shared through questionnaires, emails, conversations and planning documents, such as details about your relationship, memories, family and friends, ceremony preferences, vows and other information you choose to share with me.
Please only provide personal information about other people where it is appropriate for you to do so.
How I Use Your Information
I may use your personal information to:
respond to your enquiry and confirm my availability;
communicate with you about your wedding or ceremony;
provide information about my services and packages;
prepare for and deliver services you have booked;
create and personalise your ceremony;
manage contracts, payments and business administration;
maintain appropriate business and financial records;
improve the operation of Curated Harmonies and my website; and
comply with any legal or regulatory obligations that apply to me.
I will only use your information for purposes that are compatible with the reason it was collected, unless I have a lawful reason to use it differently.
My Lawful Basis for Using Your Information
UK data protection law requires me to have a lawful basis for processing personal information.
Depending on the circumstances, I may rely on:
Contract: Where using your information is necessary to respond to steps you have asked me to take before booking, such as responding to your enquiry, checking availability or discussing services, and to provide the services you book.
Legal obligation: Where I need to retain or use certain information to comply with legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.
Legitimate interests: Where necessary for the reasonable operation, administration and protection of Curated Harmonies, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.
Consent: Where I specifically ask for your permission for a particular use of your information. Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Processing necessary to respond to a person's request before entering into a contract can fall under the contractual lawful basis, provided the processing is genuinely necessary for that purpose.
Personal Stories and Sensitive Information
Creating a personal ceremony may involve you voluntarily sharing information about your relationship, family, experiences, beliefs, traditions or other aspects of your life.
You are always in control of how much you choose to share. I will use information provided for ceremony planning only where appropriate and will treat personal or sensitive information with care.
If information is not necessary for your ceremony or the services I provide, please avoid including it in questionnaires or correspondence.
Photographs and Video
Photographs and video are an important part of documenting weddings and celebrations.
I may wish to share photographs or video featuring my work through the Curated Harmonies website, social media accounts, portfolio or other promotional materials.
Where appropriate, permission for this use will be dealt with separately from your general booking. Booking Curated Harmonies does not automatically mean that photographs or videos of you will be used for marketing purposes.
Email Marketing
I currently use contact details provided through enquiries and bookings to communicate with you about your enquiry or the services you have requested.
I do not currently add people who enquire to a general marketing mailing list.
If Curated Harmonies introduces email marketing in the future, I will provide an appropriate way for you to choose whether you would like to receive those communications. You will be able to unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
How Your Information Is Stored and Shared
I currently use services including Squarespace to operate my website and enquiry form, and Google services, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Forms, to communicate with clients and manage information.
These service providers may process personal information on my behalf as part of providing their services.
I do not sell your personal information.
I will only share personal information with other organisations or individuals where it is reasonably necessary to provide my services, operate my business, comply with the law, or where you have asked or authorised me to do so.
Some technology providers I use may process or store information outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, I will rely on the applicable safeguards or arrangements provided for under UK data protection law.
How Long I Keep Your Information
I will not keep personal information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
As a general guide:
Enquiries that do not result in a booking may be retained for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact.
Information relating to completed ceremonies and booked clients, such as questionnaires, planning information and ceremony correspondence, may generally be retained for up to two years after the wedding or event, unless there is a reason to delete it sooner or retain particular information for longer.
Financial, contractual and business records may be retained for longer where necessary to meet tax, accounting, legal or record-keeping obligations.
I will periodically review the information I hold and delete or anonymise information that I no longer need.
UK data protection law does not impose one universal retention period; businesses should determine and justify periods according to why the information is needed and delete or anonymise data when it is no longer necessary.
Website and Cookies
My website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace may collect certain technical information when you visit the website and may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function.
Additional information about the cookies used on this website will be provided through the website's cookie settings and Cookie Policy where applicable.
I do not currently use additional advertising pixels or third-party marketing analytics that I have independently added to the website. If this changes, I will update this policy and the website's cookie arrangements as necessary.
Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis being used, UK data protection law may give you rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
ask for access to personal information I hold about you;
ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected;
ask for your personal information to be deleted in certain circumstances;
ask me to restrict how your information is used in certain circumstances;
object to certain uses of your personal information;
receive certain information in a portable format where applicable; and
withdraw consent at any time where I am relying on your consent.
Not every right applies in every circumstance.
To exercise any of these rights or ask a question about your information, contact curatedharmonies@gmail.com.
Complaints
If you have concerns about how I have handled your personal information, please contact me first at curatedharmonies@gmail.com so I have the opportunity to address your concerns.
You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
